Festival of Lights: Artistic Nude Photo Shoot on December 8, 2020.

Updated: Mar 30, 2022

Every December 8, Lyon traditionally holds the Festival of Lights. The people of Lyon have been placing candles on their window sills since 1852. Since 1999, this festival lasts 4 days, and light performers illuminate the historical buildings of the city: installation, sound and light, projections... They have carte blanche with creativity which is the key word of the event... Every year the public from all over the world asks for more for the next edition.

On this December 8, feeling a little warmed up by the “light performers”, I decided to follow the inspiration of the day and the moment and to finish this photo shoot by illuminating my living model like buildings.

In creative impulse I took my followspot and projection attachments, warmed up my gobos and Rosco gels. Like an alchemist of light, I combined different light sources to the point of making the white balance lose its mind.

Just like a light DJ mixing gobos and gels, I was filled with luminous ideas and plunged into the creative process. Suddenly I heard the voice of my assistant who was manoeuvring the followspot: "So what’s the difference between daylight and tungsten light?" he asked me with a slightly dazed look.

All of a sudden, the orange gel fell off because of the heat of the projector, and the daylight calibrated at 5600 Kelvin appeared. I answered him almost with a slogan: ”Here is the daylight achieved with the projector from K5600... As for the tungsten light, we will talk about it in the next post”.
