One of the main drawbacks of the Hasseblad 905 SWC in street photography is the lack of a light meter. It used to be a common practice to use a manual light meter. Today it can be replaced by a smartphone or a “light meter application”. In both cases it slows down the shooting, especially the use of smartphone which really destroys the photographic act. The famous Voigtlander VC-Meter II light meter is widely used by purists, but I discovered an option two to three times less expensive and bulky... The Revenilabs light meter. It is perfect because of its small size, lightness, good readability, excellent technical characteristics and precision.

The Hasselblad 40258 accessory shoe clips firmly onto the latest generation lens hoods after a small adjustment.

This positioning is ideal as it is aligned with the lens and the viewfinder. The Revenilabs light meter has a 45 degree angle, so it is easy to avoid the pitfalls of backlighting and high contrast scenes. Because of its small size it does not obscure the field of view too much during centring.

We can now adjust our settings taking light measurements through the viewfinder of the Hasselblad SWC.
